Waves.

The sadness comes in waves.
Some so heavy they hold me under;
Whispering broken promises above a salt-crusted fist.
I scrape my toes on the bottom of the hopelessness.
I can’t remember how to breathe.
Did you forget how to love me?
Why am I drowning for you?

Ocean.

I wonder if the things we carry
make us heavy;
If someday you’ll find me,
etched into the bottom of the ocean
Palms open & heart heavy;
Drowning, but asking for more.
