When The Tide Calls

I think this life has always been a tidal wave
& it was always meant to swallow us whole.
Because I think that love & loss are equally immense.
& before the tide comes crawling,
you must decide
which immensity
is worth drowning over.

We Are All Just Drowning In Drought

For weeks I couldn’t cry.
I remember thinking: I must be broken.
But then some nights I couldn’t stop.
I remember thinking: I must be broken.
& I just wonder:
would you rather die by drowning or drought?
Because most days I can’t tell the difference.

Ocean.

I wonder if the things we carry
make us heavy;
If someday you’ll find me,
etched into the bottom of the ocean
Palms open & heart heavy;
Drowning, but asking for more.
